After years of stagnating, the development is set to go ahead within the next few months. Tenders have been requested for some reticulated systems and the installation is envisaged to commence in June 2016, with construction work to follow later in the year. The first phase will consist of the development of a shopping centre and hotel on the current Parking B next to uShaka. Also as part of the First Phase will be the section along the Harbour Entrance together with the extension of the Promenade around Durban Point to the new Passenger Terminal to be constructed by Transnet in the vicinity of the Waterfront Hotel.
